The light stabilizer almost does not absorb the ultraviolet light which can cause the aging of the plastic, and the purpose of preventing the aging of the plastic is achieved. The mechanism of action of the light stabilizer is that it can effectively trap the free radicals generated by the plastic itself caused by ultraviolet light, thus preventing the occurrence of the chain reaction leading to the aging of the plastic. Such light stabilizers are also referred to as free radical trapping agents.
